Best of 2023

Your Weekly Breakdown

There were so, so many great treats for us to gobble up and enjoy this year, and we’ve rounded up several of my favourite books, albums, podcasts, shows, and movies into one easy peasy list for you, because you’re the best. When we say several, we mean…so…many.

In 2023, we sent out 42 epic newsletters that included personal essays on work, motherhood, womanhood, and how - for better or worse - culture weaves between them, along with the much-loved curated recommendations for what to watch, listen to, and read. We hope you loved them, and if you’re new to us, please do subscribe for the most coveted (free!) newsletter for women.

For a little flavour of what’s to come, here are the 3 posts that resonated most of our fantastic community:

Alright, alright, alright….let’s get to it. The best of the best!

Best of 2023

📺 TV & Film

There were a lot of great shows and movies this year, and as we put this list together, we’re already itching to rewatch a few. Bad Sisters was, by far, our favourite. 📚 Books, books, and more books

There were a lot of good ones, and a few bad ones, and we’ve done my best to whittle the list down to a manageable load! If we could only pick one, we’d tell you that we couldn’t possibly pick just one and then breathlessly say Fourth Wing and This Time Tomorrow in one quick breath.

  1. Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver

  2. Paris The Memoir by Paris Hilton (listen to the audiobook, if you can)

  3. Weyward by Emilia Hart

  4. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

  5. A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting (technically came out in 2022 but whatever)

  6. The School of Mirrors by Eva Stachniak (also technically came out in 2022 but I didn’t get to it until this year so it’s on the list!)

  7. My Murder by Katie Williams

  8. Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn - so fun!

  9. The Exhibitionist by Charlotte Mendelson

  10. The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

  11. They’re Going to Love You by Meg Howrey (again, best on audiobook)

  12. Extremely Online by Taylor Lorenz

  13. Yellowface by R. F. Kuang

  14. This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub

  15. Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia, MD - a good pre-NY read if you are thinking about being health-focused
