Best of 2023
Your Weekly Breakdown
There were so, so many great treats for us to gobble up and enjoy this year, and we’ve rounded up several of my favourite books, albums, podcasts, shows, and movies into one easy peasy list for you, because you’re the best. When we say several, we mean…so…many.
In 2023, we sent out 42 epic newsletters that included personal essays on work, motherhood, womanhood, and how - for better or worse - culture weaves between them, along with the much-loved curated recommendations for what to watch, listen to, and read. We hope you loved them, and if you’re new to us, please do subscribe for the most coveted (free!) newsletter for women.
For a little flavour of what’s to come, here are the 3 posts that resonated most of our fantastic community:
Alright, alright, alright….let’s get to it. The best of the best!

📺 TV & Film
There were a lot of great shows and movies this year, and as we put this list together, we’re already itching to rewatch a few. Bad Sisters was, by far, our favourite. That said, everything on this list is delicious and would make for excellent binging during the upcoming strange non-existent week that falls between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
TV
Fleishman is in Trouble - the book is also top notch
The Night Agent - 10/10 would abort my life to run away with the lead actor
Daisy Jones & The Six - should we rewatch this together?
Movies
The Gray Man - people hated on this but this is Chris Evans at his finest!
🎧 Music & Podcasts
When Spotify Wrapped told us that we listened to over 1,100 artists last year, we felt pretty proud! A rare feeling for us. We love digging and exploring and finding awesome albums for you to groove to. Enjoy.

📚 Books, books, and more books
There were a lot of good ones, and a few bad ones, and we’ve done my best to whittle the list down to a manageable load! If we could only pick one, we’d tell you that we couldn’t possibly pick just one and then breathlessly say Fourth Wing and This Time Tomorrow in one quick breath.
Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver
Paris The Memoir by Paris Hilton (listen to the audiobook, if you can)
Weyward by Emilia Hart
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting (technically came out in 2022 but whatever)
The School of Mirrors by Eva Stachniak (also technically came out in 2022 but I didn’t get to it until this year so it’s on the list!)
My Murder by Katie Williams
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn - so fun!
The Exhibitionist by Charlotte Mendelson
The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin
They’re Going to Love You by Meg Howrey (again, best on audiobook)
Extremely Online by Taylor Lorenz
Yellowface by R. F. Kuang
This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub
Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia, MD - a good pre-NY read if you are thinking about being health-focused
